Habitat for Humanity of Southwest Alabama homes are simple and decent yet vary in sizes. Our architects carefully design each home to be aesthetically pleasing and energy efficient. We build single-family homes across the Southwest Alabama region. In addition to new construction, we partner with families in neighborhoods to complete critical home repairs on existing houses through the Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative and Critical Home Repair Program; "A Brush with Kindness".

Our homes are not only affordable to purchase, but also affordable to maintain. All Habitat for Humanity of Southwest Alabama new homes are built to the EPA New Home Guidelines: Energy Star certification. Building to these standards not only reduces greenhouse emissions, but also helps homeowners save on energy costs. In fact, when compared to a code-built home, Habitat for Humanity of Southwest Alabama homes saves between 30-40% in heating and electric use.

Our Homes

Founded in 1988, Habitat for Humanity of Southwest Alabama is a non-profit, ecumenical, Christian ministry whose purpose is to improve communities through sustainable partnerships. Having built and renovated over 325 homes throughout Mobile, Clarke and Washington Counties, HFHSWA seeks ways to positively impact the community through our Homeownership Program, our Critical Repair Programs and our Veteran’s Repair.
